Frank Campbell was fined $100.00 for 4 people wearing ASAP Drains t-shirts at Rotary. President John also matched the $100.00.
Mike McLaughlin was fined $20.00 for wearing his company t-shirt today.
Gig Michaud went sky diving for the first time with his daughter. He promised her he would go when she turned 18. He plans to do it again.
John Fisher recognized his 41st Wedding Anniversary
Kathie Strout recognized her 31st Wedding Anniversary
Frank Campbell recognized the softball teams 1st playoff game tonight in Woburn against Chelsea.
Dick Moore canoed the Saco River last weekend.
Anita Blackaby recognized all of the Rotarians who volunteered their time last week to cook for the Salem Mission. Bruce Whear Viktoria Talebian, Anita Blackaby, and Roberta Cantor.
State Rep. John Keenan completed his 19th Pan Mass Challenge last week. His group raised and donated $10,000.00. The entire organization raised over $30 million.
Jake Segal recognized the fact that a group of his college friends got together recently and after 50 years of friendship they are still happily married to the same ladies.
John Neely mentioned that unfortunately his mother in law at 94 years of age is terminally ill with leukemia. His family is there by her side.
Jake Segal and Rich Blazo were fined for being in the newspaper. They played in a golf tournament and were recognized in the paper.
Announcements
Dick Moore Chairman of the membership committee introduced Rev. Steve Bascom as a new member to the Salem Rotary Club. Rev. Steve will take over for Rev. Ken Steigler at Rotary and the Salem Wesley Church. He was proposed by Dr. John Fisher.
President Hall has announced that there will be a Rotarian of the Month. Kathie Strout is the 1st recipient of this award. Please see her bio.
Frank Campbell is still taking reservations for the Poker Tournament that will be held Thursday September 17th at the Ward Two Social in Salem. The first $2,000.00 raised will go to our commitment to Polio Plus with the balance going to our scholarship fund. Please join us for an enjoyable evening. 42 people signed up.
We had our 1st monthly Salem Mission dinner. The team of Bruce Whear, Viktoria Talebian, Anita Blackaby, and Roberta Cantor graciously donated their time to help the needy.
Ray Hodge Update
Although Ray appears to be doing better, his recovery is quite slow. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family for a quick recovery

John Hall introduced Assistant District Governor Christina Harris who then introduced DG Elect Steve May. Steve then introduced Ingrid Brown today’s speaker.
Ingrid Brown Bio
A Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Rockport, Ingrid was selected by the District Nominating Committee to be the nominee for District Governor in 2009–2010.
Ingrid joined Rockport Rotary in January 1996 under the classification of Insurance. Her father, Marshall Swan, was also a member of the club from 1978 to 1992, so she was thrilled when she was asked to join. She served as the club’s president in 2003–2004. Ingrid has completed the Rotary Leadership Institute training, has been an Assistant Governor for the last three years and the Outbound Coordinator for the Group Study Exchange (GSE) teams for the last three years. In her professional life, Ingrid owns the CH Cleaves Insurance Agency in Rockport. In addition to serving Rotary, Ingrid is currently the President of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women, Inc.
In addition, she’s the past president of the Chorus North Shore, the former treasurer and senior warden of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Rockport and a Trustee of the Corporation of the Granite Savings Bank. Ingrid is the mother of two and the grandmother of three.
Steve May Bio
District Governor Elect Steve was born and spent his childhood years in Winthrop, MA and graduated from Winthrop High School. Using his military background (a Marine Viet Nam veteran), along with the knowledge and experience gained over 32 years in law enforcement having served as a police officer, a Federal Special Agent with the CID and retiring as a District Commander and The New England Chief of the Conrail Police Department, Steve established the American Bureau of Investigation and is a special tax practitioner. Over the years, Steve has been on the board or a member of the Licensed Private Detectives Association of Massachusetts, Charter Member of the United States Association of Professional Investigators, New England Council of State Investigators, the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, along with the New England Chiefs of Police Association, and a retired member of the Massachusetts Police Association. Steve is also a proud member of the Marine Corps Association and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. He attended Northeastern University, Penn State University and graduated from numerous police academies and has instructed many supervisory, command and management courses in the field of law enforcement. Steve joined the Rotary Club of North Reading in 2003 and was immediately appointed to the board of directors, serving as president in 2006-07 and has been the club secretary since that date. He has completed the Rotary Leadership Institute training, and has served as an assistant governor and assistant governor coordinator. He was awarded the Governors Citation for District 7930 and a District Service Award along with being a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and is a member of the Paul Harris Society.
