SPEAKER/PRESENTER OF THE WEEK

A3D Incorporated - African Development through Drum and Dance

Mamadou Diop, President

Debra Crosby, Vice President

Donald Goldman, Executive Director

In January 2004, a group of 12 friends, acquaintances, and strangers traveled to Senegal, West Africa on the journey of a lifetime. While there, they dreamed that they could make a difference in this world, if they put their minds, energy, and resources together. From that dream, A3D became a reality. While in Senegal they saw how poor the conditions their hospital and clinics were in. They lacked beds and necessary medical equipment to properly treat a patient. A3D decided to make better health-care a reality in Senegal. In addition to health-care, they helped raise money to local Senegal schools. They raised over $17,000.00 to purchase new computers, sewing machines, 100 desks, and HAWC and the Salem School Foundation.

A3D wants make a difference in the Salem community and in Senegal West Africa. It is the mission of A3D to build and maintain the capacity to effectively address the economic, educational, environmental, and public needs of undeserved African populations, in the Greater Salem area and abroad, through targeted programs and micro-financed enterprises. This non-profit organization will achieve these goals through a variety of initiatives both domestically and in Africa. A3D has been recognized by the greater Salem community for their support of local groups and activities by being given the 2008 Community Service award from the Salem Chamber of Commerce.
