ANNOUNCEMENTS
This months Rotarian of the Month is Mary Ann Lyons. Thanks to Mary Ann who greets our members and guests each week. She resides in Salem and is the wife of the late Paul Lyons a former member. She has 5 stepchildren, 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Mary Ann is a business school graduate and currently retired. Her favorite activities include reading, dining out, going to the movies and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She has served on many Rotary committees and is a former member of the board of directors. Her best Rotary moment was when her husband Paul was awarded the Paul Harris Award. If stranded on an island she would like many books, rosary beads, Jack Daniels and most of all her husband Paul. Please join me in congratulating Mary Ann.

The Early Act Club from the Phoenix School announced that their fundraising activities have raised $1,000.00 for a Shelter Box.
So far the District clubs have raised 75 Shelter Boxes. This is a donation of $75,000.00 in just over 3 weeks.

Frank Campbell has donated this months Salem Mission meal. Joanne Scott is the team leader.
The World Peace and Understanding Dinner will be held Tuesday February 9th at the Danversport. It starts at 6:00pm.

SPEAKER/PRESENTER OF THE WEEK
Ed Bell from the Marblehead Rotary Club - Shelter Boxes
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide. Once upon a time, Tom Henderson attended a regular Helston-Lizard Rotary Club meeting. What he said next was to change everything. 'Hey guys, I've had an idea, which could bring shelter and beds to people who have become homeless in disasters around the world... and all in a single box'. 'Yeah, that sounds a good idea' we said, 'why don't you look into it'? Well, Tom doesn't need to be told twice. As an ex naval officer and spending his time generally doing dangerous stuff above and below the sea all over the globe, he went and found all that was needed...tents, sleeping bags, boxes, equipment - the best quality, (with some arm twisting) at the lowest cost. He put SHELTERBOX together, it's administered by the Helston-Lizard Club and sent worldwide through Rotary clubs. So it's all his fault!!!
