ANNOUNCEMENTS
Rotarian of the month: Viktoria Talebian for the leading the Literacy Project from start to finish and steadfast support as a Sergeant at Arms. Viktoria lives in Swampscott with her husband Pejman and her three children William 9, Rachel 6 and Trevor 4. Viktoria is an Orthodontist with a private practice in Salem. She is very active outdoors, enjoys going to the gym and cooking. As a Rotarian, Viktoria has been a member of the calendar committee, co-chair on the Scholarship committee, literacy & education committee, two terms as sergeant at arms and is a current board member. Her favorite Rotary memory is the satisfaction she felt on the day that the scholarship awards were made the year that she co-chaired the committee; intense work with a tremendous impact on the lives of the recipients. Her proudest achievement is raising her 3 beautiful children and losing 45 lbs and keeping it off for the past 3 years. Three things Viktoria would want if stranded on a dessert island: 1. An endless supply of crisp gala apples 2. Her blackberry with e-mail capacity 3. Her exercise triad great sneakers, an elliptical machine and a set of free weights. OH CONGRATS TO VIKTORIA WHO RECENTLY TURNED 40 YEARS OLD.

Our next Salem Mission dinner is scheduled for 5/6/10. We have a team in place for the dinner.
Swampscott Club Duct Tape regatta - we need a team to represent the Salem who is known for our marine trade. If interested please see Bill Kielbasa.
Our celebrity bartending night is vastly approaching. PLEASE do your best to attend and bring guests. Viktoria Talebian is spearheading this event and it should be an evening on fellowship and fundraising. Don Kelley from the Beverly club has joined the list of celebrity bartenders. It will be held a Finz in Salem on Tuesday May 11th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
For those of you who have not tried Ken's Kick'n Chicken pot pies you should. Ken Rothwell who is a big supporter of the Salem Rotary Club has put together a masterpiece with his pot pies. I recommend you stop by his store at 7 Franklin Street in Salem and pick some up.
This month's board meeting is set for 4/27 at 11:00am.
Please make note that our meeting scheduled for Tuesday May 18th will be moved to Thursday May 20th. This is to accommodate a visit by the incoming GSE team from London, England. The Salem Rotary Club will be one of two sites in the District to host the team. We are expecting visitors from several area clubs to join us.

"QUOTE OF THE WEEK"
“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” Helen Keller
