President John traveled to Gloucester Rotary last week to join the 87th anniversary celebration. Salem Rotary Club chartered 4 clubs in 1923 after our 3rd President - Judge Robert Hill. He was elected District Governor. The clubs that he chartered were Marblehead, Danvers, Ipswich and Gloucester.
The final coin collection for the Change to Change Lives initiative will take place next Tuesday. So far we have raised over $3,100.00 for St. Joseph's Food Pantry. St. Joseph's Food Pantry is experiencing financial difficulty. Lets make the final collection a big one. Please bring in all your spare change and bills if you don't have change. They do a lot of good for the community, lets help them continue fight hunger in Salem. The kids at the Phoenix School gave President John a piggy bank full of change totalling $267.00. A special thanks goes to the kids for their tremendous support.
Do your best to attend next weeks meeting to thank President John for his dedication to the club during his term as President. He will be addressing the club for the final time and handing out awards to Rotarian's.
We had our annual Golf Tournament on Monday June 21st at Wenham Countryclub. It was a tremendous success. We would like to thank the golfers, sponsors, volunteers golf committee and especially Bob Conley for their dedication to this event. We would also like to thank Ken Rothwell for providing food for the event. The lunch and dinner were absolutely amazing.
