THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER
Our speaker this week was Attorney David Smith of Farrell, McAleer & Smith www.sealaw.org.  David's primary practice expertise is in maritime law with offices in Salem and Chatham.  Maritime law can be segmented into several categories of Transactional (contracts, permits, financing, etc.), Vessel Arrest, and Salvage (wreck removal, environmental crimes, collisions, insurance, etc.).

Being deeply committed to the maritime and boating industry David co-founded Sail Salem after seeing the success of a similar program in Rhode Island called Sail Newport.  The Sail Salem program started in 2008 as a youth program charging its participants just $1 per week.  Six years later, Sail Salem has youth (free) and adult programs with a fleet of 12 Optimists, 1 Catalina 22, 1 O'Day, and 3 J24's.  The program also has 3 safety/motor boats.  Information about participating and supporting Sail Salem can be found on the website www.sailsalem.org.

NEXT WEEK'S SPEAKER
Next week, the speaker will be Jack Christian, from the Clean Water Project.
