Leanne Schild gave her Classification Speech.
Leanne is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota where she grew up on a farm. She grew up in the 80s, and is truly an 80s girl. She even had a girl band!
She loves theater, and went to the College of St. Benedict .
In 1989, she spent 8 years studying International Relations abroad in Salzburg, Austria.
She won a full scholarship to Fulbright in Vienna. She also met her husband, a foreigner, while studying abroad.
Her greatest accomplishment was being there in 1989 watching the fall of the Berlin Wall, which was the beginning of the end of Communism.
Leanne was in Bosnia in 1995 for the signing of the Bosnian peace treaty.
She volunteered in Sarajevo, and met her best friend. She was inspired by her friend to continue her studies in education.
Leanne was stationed in New York during 911 working for EF Education, and then transferred to Boston.
She came to Salem in 1999, and has two children, a set of twins ( a boy and a girl). She worked part-time at the PEM Museum while her children were young.
She is the co-founder of Salem Education Foundation.
Leanne is currently employed by the Plummer Home for Boys now known as the Plummer Home for Promise.
