THIS WEEK AT ROTARY...
SHS Band and choir performance
This week was our annual performance by the Salem High School Band and Choir. Salem High School Band Director Cynthia Napierkowski said she was very proud of the accomplishments of the band over Zoom but that they are all so excited to be performing live once again. Everyone missed performing. During the performance, which featured numerous solos, Cynthia introduced the seniors in the band. She did encourage the Salem Rotary to utilize Venmo to make contributing and cooperation much easier. Salem High School alumnus Alexis MacTaylor has taken over for Ms. Goodwin, who took a job in Billerica. Alexis says she is very happy to be back in such a special place. The choir sang modern takes on traditional songs.

The Four Way Test
Claire Kallelis spoke about what the Four Way Test means to her. She began by explaining what the Four Way Test is to the students from Salem High School. She went on to say that she wish she had discovered the test earlier as it would have saved her from a lot of sleepless nights if she had used it when she began her career in hospitality. Of particular importance to her professionally are the questions about truth and fairness. Marie Cardillo volunteered to speak next week.
Congratulations to the Fun and Fellowship Committee for an amazing evening with the Dickens Trolley Ride!

YOURS IN SERVICE

We have volunteered to help at Lifebridge dinners once every other month. The next event is in January. For now, cooking can be done at Lifebridge, though this is subject to change. More details to follow.

ROTARIAN NEWS

Viktoria Talebian is once again an aunt as her sister gave birth to Clara Jane this past week. The gender was a surprise as the parents did not want to know.

Gerrit Bradley gave us a quick bird watching update. A few straggling Canadian geese remained in the area, at least he directed them to the south.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statement

At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.

We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.

Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically experienced barriers to membership, participation, and leadership, we commit to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including in our community partnerships, so that each person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities, networks, and support to thrive.

We believe that all people hold visible and invisible qualities that inherently make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture where each person knows they are valued and belong.

In line with our value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.
