VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS
 
Alice Merkl was a guest of Rob Lutts.
 
Francesco's guests were his mother, Anna, and Rachel's mother.  Both were here waiting on the new arrival.
 
 
 

FINES AND RECOGNITIONS
 
Mike Mclaughlin is looking for 4 new applicants for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award District 7930.  The event is scheduled for May 9-12 and is a wonderful opportunity for any young person to have an amazing experience.
 
Bruce Whear ‘s improv group had the largest advance ticket sales for Black Box.
 
Leanne Schild asked the Club to continue to support Paddle for Plummer, as it is the largest fundraiser for the Plummer Home.
Leanne also stated that the Freshmen were in the process of making their final choices of donations.
 
Gerrit is back from a visit with his daughter. They went through all the haunted houses of Savannah, Georgia.
 
Viktoria Talebian toured the IU campus and was excited to announce her son’s acceptance to Indiana University.
 
Leslie Levesque announced that on April 9th, there would be a collection for “Change Changing Lives.”
She also announced that her daughter’s team made it to the championship.
 
Rob Lutts visited 9 theaters during theater week.
 
Liz Bradt ‘s daughter’s was accepted to art school.
 
Tim Clarke said Waters & Brown has two locations. He attended an “after hours” event to promote the Beverly location and was approached curiously by someone that said, "Gee, I did not know you had a store in Salem."
 
 
 
 
 

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CLUB BUSINESS
 
The Salem Rotary Spring Dinner Auction is Friday April 5, 2019 starting at 6pm.
 
Pastor Joe Amico stated that he needs readers for the Literacy Program which will be held on April 9th, at 8am at the Horace Mann School.
 
Liz Bradt was named Best of Boston Veterinary Services.
 
Kara McLaughlin stated the House of Seven Gables was voted Best of Boston.
 
The Beverly Schools Tri-M Honor Society is proud to collaborate with Salem Rotary and donate 50% of their sales from the showcase on April 11th to the Salem Back Pack Program.
 
Claire Kallelis announced that Nathaniel’s now has an entertainment showcase starting on April 4th at 6pm and every Thursday thereafter.

SPEAKER OF THE WEEK
 
We had a wonderful speech from the Dutch filmmaker, Helge Prinsen, about her documentary, “Loss Won't Pay the Bills,” which takes place in Rinus’ hometown of Vlissingen. The documentary won ‘"Best Documentary Film” of 2018 in the Netherlands.
